Mary Beard

Mary Beard is a wickedly subversive commentator on both the modern and the ancient world.
She is a professor in classics at Cambridge and classics editor of the TLS.

Well known for her TV work the link here is to her official blog.

Clare Pollard

Clare Pollard

Clare Pollard (b.1978) appeared on the poetry scene in the late nineties with her energetic,
expressive and markedly contemporary work.
She was chosen as one of Poetry Review's New Poets of 1996, published her first book while
still in her teens, and won an Eric Gregory Award from the Society of Authors in 2000.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, her poetic models include the likes of Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath and John Berryman.

Clare visited Bootham in September 2015 and performed her works to Upper Seniors and College students
and did writing sessions with English Literature students. The links here are to her fascinating blog.
