Week commencing 18th October Maths
I have included a presentation with 5 lessons. If your child was not in from Thursday, you will need to start on lesson 1. Your child will need to do this lesson, as we have not covered this topic before.
Please only cover the first 3 lessons, as we will be looking at lessons 4 and 5 after 1/2 term.
If there is a worksheet attached for that lesson, do that before the activity. The worksheets have 1-3 stars with 3 being the most challenging. Most children tend to do the 1 or 2 star worksheet.
Lesson 3 has Mastery Cards. These are problem solving and reasoning cards, which are a challenge. Please don't feel you have to do these, as not all of the children do them. They will normally do 2 or 3 of them. There is also a game for lesson 3, for after the worksheet, if you want to play it with your child. Lesson 3 focusses on addition number sentences shown in different ways. The children do often struggle when the answer is at the front. When using vocabulary for the =sign, we use 'equal to' and 'the same as'.
This weeks new phoneme is 'ea'.
Here is a link to the lesson for Tuesday. (Monday concentrates on spelling the new tricky words on the handwriting sheet.)

I have also attached a couple of sheets for Tuesday and Wednesday to re-enforce the learning.
The jigsaw pieces will have to be cut up along with the lotto game which could be played as a matching, memory game, with the pictures and words turned over, or as a matching game with the pictures and words showing.
Swimming/PE
In school the children will be swimming on Tuesday morning and will have PE on Wednesday, as well as taking part in forest school.
I have attached a link to Cosmic Kids Yoga which the children might enjoy doing independently.

The children might also enjoy going for a walk into the garden and using their senses to see what they can hear, see, feel and smell. They could collect some dry leaves and make animal leaf pictures or a collage.
