Using the attached park scene the children should talk about what is in the picture. Encourage them to use all of their senses. After thinking of a sentence they should say it out loud and then write it down, before checking it makes sense. 

The children know I am looking for capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and that their writing should be neatly presented with leading strokes, but may need a reminder! 

We have talked about varying our sentence starters eg. The boy, he, John and some children will use time words such as next, afterwards, yesterday, last week. I also use adjectives in examples and modelled writing. eg. The pretty birds chirp in the blue sky.

Encourage at least 4 sentences.
